L.D. Thetford

L.D. Thetford, 94, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Wichita Falls. Funeral service is scheduled Friday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in Morrison Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Cottonwood Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. L.D. was born Oct. 6, 1922 in Jack County, to the late William A. Thetford and Lona Lynn Thetford. L.D. was a veteran of the U.S. Army in the 552nd Anti-Aircraft and 78th Division where he served in World War II and fought in the Battle of Remagen Bridge, Battle of the Bulge, Battle of the Black Forest, Battle of the Argonne Forest, and Omaha Beach. He married Verna Coley, Dec. 31, 1954 in Bryson. L.D. was a self-employed building contractor in Graham for many years and a rancher and stock farmer. Survivors include his wife, Verna Thetford of Graham; son, Larry Thetford and wife Linda of Graham; two grandchildren, Dr. Melissa Rouquette and husband, Dr. Toby, and Scott Thetford and wife, Kristi; two great-grandchildren, Cullen Rouquette and Karsyn Thetford; brother, Lynn Thetford and wife Charlene of Mineral Wells; sister-in-law, Mary Thetford of Houston. L.D. was preceded in death by four sisters, Ilah, Cleo, Evelyn and Margaret, and three brothers, Clayton, Doyle and Donald. The family will be at the funeral home Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
