Louis Glen Armstrong

Louis Glen Armstrong, 89, of Hurst, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, after a brief struggle with pneumonia. Funeral services will be held Tuesday Jan. 24, at 1:30 p.m. at Life Fellowship Church in Hurst, with Pastor Darryl Crawford and Rev. Gale Burnett officiating. Interment will take place at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Forest Ridge Funeral Home in Hurst, Louis was born in Quinlan on Dec. 15, 1927, the son of P.J. and Willie Carpenter Armstrong, both deceased. Louis met his wife Bernice in Graham, and they were married for 71 years, until she passed away Oct. 11, 2009. He proudly served in the Army as part of the Occupational Forces in Japan in 1946 and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. Louis was a very successful business owner and after retirement, he enjoyed traveling, playing golf and a good game of dominos. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Veal of Weatherford; son, Jim Armstrong and wife, Rhonda of Hurst; daughters, Karen and husband Laney Holder of Watauga, and Glenda and husband Will Taylor of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Louis was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, Billy J. Armstrong and Gene Armstrong; and sister, Vera Armstrong.
