Margarett Lenora Carnley

Margarett Lenora Carnley, age 96 of Marshall, Arkansas, went home to be with Jesus on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Highland Court in Marshall.  She was born on June 15, 1919, in Young County, Texas, to Matthew Raymond Roberts and Dora Ethel (Redwine) Roberts.


Margarett attended the Marshall Church of Christ. Her church was very near and dear to her heart. She loved to fellowship with her church family and very much enjoyed talking and visiting with family and friends.  Margarett enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband, Lillard. She loved to paint, write poetry and collect dolls.  She also liked going to garage sales. Margarett was a beautiful, vibrant woman who loved to dress up and one rarely saw her without her signature red flower in her hair and lipstick.


Survivors include sons, Michael (Regina) Carnley of Marshall and Stevan (Judy) Carnley of Odessa, Texas; daughters, Linda (Norbert) Novak of Marshall, Brenda Horton, also of Marshall, Nancy (James) Roberts of College Station, Texas, and Jodi Harra of Branson, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.


Margarett is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lillard Garl Carnley; one stillborn infant; grandson, Garl Weldon “Shorty” Roberts; sisters, Betty  and Mae; and brothers, Arley, Shorty and Van.


Funeral services for Margarett were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2016, at Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas, with Randy Seawright officiating. Visitation was from 6 till 8 Sunday, April 24, 2016, in the Chapel.  Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Novak, David Roberts, Russell Roberts, Shane Carnley, Clint Stoker, Matthew Hodnett and Daniel Hodnett.
