Patsy Sue Atwood went into the arms of Jesus at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. Funeral will be held Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 2 p.m. in First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home. Patsy was born Dec. 28, 1935 in Olney, to the late Warren Heston and Mildred McKinney Whitt. She graduated from Graham High School. Patsy was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class, the Dickens Carolers, and an active member of the church choir. She married Billy Royce Atwood on July 30, 1955 at Salem Methodist Church. She taught piano lessons and then served as music secretary at First Baptist Church for 28 years. She loved playing the organ and piano at her church when needed. Her main interests were buying and selling antiques and camping every year in Cloudcroft, N.M. She loved her church and loved her grandchildren. Survivors include husband of 61 years, Billy Royce Atwood of Jean; son, Kenneth Gene Atwood and friend, Joyce, of Olney; daughter, Cynthia Beth Rush and husband, Charles, of Henderson; brother, Jackie Cole Whitt of Albuquerque, N.M. and sister-in-law, Billye Lou Whitt of Beaumont; grandchildren, Sarah Dotson, Rachel Rush, Emily Rush, Kristi Love, Sam Atwood and Courtney Atwood; and eight great-grandchildren. Patsy was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry “Mac” Whitt. Visitation is Monday, Oct. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home.
