Paul Douglass Hinson, age 70, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, in Sugar Land, TX.

Paul was born Dec. 2, 1950, in Graham to the late Floy (Jr.) and Martha Davidson Hinson.

Paul was a 1969 graduate of Graham High School, where he played on the tennis team, and an honor graduate of Texas Tech University in 1973. After college, Paul returned to Graham and began his insurance career with partner and mentor, Stanley H. Peavy, Jr., of Insurance Associates in Graham. He had a forty-five-year career in the insurance industry. He was founder and owner of Pension Advisory Group, which focused on estate planning and tax planning. In addition to the insurance business, he was an entrepreneur involved in many business ventures including land development, home building, cattle, and oil production. After many years as an Episcopalian, he joined First Methodist Church in Sugar Land, TX. On Aug. 9, 2003, he married the love of his life, Jan Loggins, at their vacation home in Ruidoso, N.M.

He fulfilled a dream of his youth when he earned his pilot’s license in the 1970s. This passion continued throughout his life. When he was not working or at home with Jan and their beloved canine, Pave’, he probably was reading, flying, fishing or hunting, or looking for his next business venture. Occasionally he enjoyed playing golf and tennis.

He also was an avid hunter, and fisherman, who enjoyed traveling to far-reaching places in the Northwest Territories, Canada and Alaska to fish and hunt. His life-long interest in guns began at an early age of 4 with a BB gun. This led him to be a Life Member of the N.R.A. His knowledge of guns and superior marksmanship was especially helpful in wild game hunting.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents: Floy, Martha and Alyne (his second and adoptive mother), brother David Hinson, grandparents L.L. and Gertrude Davidson, and Mary and Floy Virgil Hinson, Sr.

Survivors: wife, Jan, daughter Holly E. Hinson, M.D., sister, Jane Hinson Cravens-Clements (John), nephew, Robert D. Hinson, Sister-in-law Peggy Hinson and many cousins. Also surviving Paul are Aunt Janet Cavitt, and also Grahamites Uncle Ed Hinson and Aunt Susan of Graham. He was especially close to Jan’s family: Bobby and Nancy Rutherford, Cathy Rutherford, Doyle Wesson, and Judy Baird.

A memorial service will be scheduled later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 1022 , Graham, TX 76450.
