Robert Thomas Garner

Robert Thomas Garner, 73, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2016, in Graham. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 9:30 am at Eastside Church of Christ. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Indian Gap Cemetery in Hamilton County under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.


Robert was born on May 5, 1943, in McKinney, Texas, to the late Alton and Mary Nell Garner. He served in the Army Corp of Engineers during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged in 1973. He married Johnice Brannan in 1974 in Breckenridge. He moved to Graham in 1983 from Wichita Falls and worked for the Texas Department of Transportation as a civil engineer until 2001. Robert loved to tinker in his garage on various projects and to serve God, his family and his community. He was a member of Eastside Church of Christ and Rotary Club of Graham.


Survivors include his wife, Johnice Garner of Graham; son,  Johny Garner and wife Lindsey of Fort Worth; daughter, Robin Hoppes and husband Clint of Tulsa, Oklahoma; sister, Glenda Satterwhite and husband Tom of Potosi; grandchildren, Nathan and Ryan Garner of Fort Worth; sister-in-law, Judith Anne Johns of Breckenridge; nephews, Darin Johns of Andrews and Eric Johns of Gainesville; nieces, Kim Howell of Abilene and Alicia Reddell of Abilene; several grandnieces and grandnephews also survive.


 Visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
