Ruth Alcorn

Ruth Alcorn, 82, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 in Graham. Funeral services will be Sunday, Aug. 13, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Graham with burial to follow in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.  Ruth was born April 13, 1935 in Jack County, to the late Arnie and Eula (Collier) Rhodes.   She married Bill Alcorn on June 3, 1977 in Graham. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active for over 50 years, serving as GA leader, Sunday school teacher, after-school program, Family Life Center volunteer and hospital visitation.   Ruth, affectionately known as "Momcorn" to her grand- and great-grandchildren, was a gifted artist with a creative soul. She belonged to the Graham Art Guild for many years, and traveled and painted with other members of the Graham art community. She and Bill collaborated on numerous art projects, including decorative iron and wood work. In addition to their creative work, Ruth and Bill loved to hunt and travel. Ruth leaves behind a loving family: husband, Bill Alcorn of Graham; daughters, Sharon Holland and husband, John, of Johannesburg, South Africa, Donna Sears and husband, Gary, of Graham, Jill Letwin and husband, Gil, of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada, and Diane Krause and husband, Alan, of Friendswood; sons, Keith Maxey and wife, Gayle, of Tye, and Daniel Alcorn and wife, Melissa, of Weatherford; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Blanche; brother, Amos; and husband, Ray Maxey. Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lottie Moon fund at First Baptist Church in Graham.
