Scott Wesley Hudson passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 28, 2016.  Scott was born in Dallas on Jan. 2, 1929, to Hayden Haas Hudson and Florence Scott Hudson. Scott grew up living in the Baker Hotel in downtown Dallas (owned by his uncle, Fenton Baker, and managed by Scott's father, Hayden). After his father's untimely death in 1944, Scott was sent to St. John's Military Academy in Delafield, Wisc., for his junior year in high school. He returned to Dallas for his senior year and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1946. He enlisted in the Army in 1949, and served in the Infantry division during combat in Korea. Scott completed his undergraduate degree from Texas Wesleyan University in 1953 and was a 1956 graduate of South Texas College of Law in Houston. He was licensed to practice law by the Texas State Supreme Court on Sept. 5, 1956. In 1960, Scott graduated with the first class of the newly created Southwestern Graduate School of Banking ("Swigsbie") at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Scott spent many years in the banking industry before practicing law.  He worked for the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office under Henry Wade before entering into private practice. In the 1970s, Scott was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Claims and the U.S. Tax Court. As an entrepreneur, Scott was involved in various businesses and investments. One of his most memorable ventures is when Scott ran Pompeii Records, which also led to him playing the bongos on Ike Turner’s “Scotty Souling,” from the album “Black Man’s Soul.” Scott will be remembered for his shrewd business sense, his charismatic presence, and his love of jelly beans. Survivors include his daughters, Senior District Judge Jean Boyd (John) of Fort Worth, Lynn Alcorn (Steve) of Coppell, and 90th Judicial District Attorney Dee Peavy (Mark Thayer) of Graham; his grandchildren, Scott Boyd, Robert Alcorn (Alice-Anne), Aimee Alcorn-Reed (Jere), Hudson Peavy, Ivy Peavy, Kirstin Thayer, and Britain Thayer; and his great-grandchildren, Tucker Alcorn and Anne-Marie Alcorn.
