Shawn David Barkey, age 47, of Graford, passed away Saturday, Sept. 18, in Horseshoe Bay. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at 301 Observation Point Road in Graford.

Shawn was born Nov. 15, 1973, in Austin, to Grant and Donna Barkey. Shawn was baptized June 24, 2003. Shawn spent his childhood growing up on the shores of Inks Lake, and he attended grade school in Burnet. In his youth, Shawn was well-known as an avid and accomplished golfer so when he wasn’t on the lake you could find him at the golf course.

In 2013, Shawn moved to Graford, and made his home on the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake, or “PK.” It was there that he met his beloved wife, Misty Barkey, and they were married on Aug. 13, 2016. Shawn felt most at home at the lake, and he loved living at PK, where he was always surrounded by family and friends. When he wasn’t traveling for work, Shawn spent his days on the water, usually with a boatload of kids and friends.

He is survived by four daughters: Braylin Barkey, Layna Barkey, Marilyn Stekoll and Marrion Stekoll. He is also survived by his sister Cori Conner and her husband Kreg Conner, of Leander.
