Possum Kingdom — Stephen Alan McCain, “Popeye” to his grandkids, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2016.

Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Mount Olivet. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the building fund for Country Road Fellowship Church in his memory at P.O. Box 997, Graham, TX 76450.

He was born June 27, 1953, to Peggy and Bobby McCain. He retired from AT&T after working there 40 years. He loved to fish from the time he was a little boy with his Grandpa McCain and was a member of the Hell’s Gate Bass Club at Possum Kingdom Lake and Fun-N-Sun Elite Fleet. After a fire destroyed their home in the Cliffs, they moved to “The Ranch”, called Mc7 after his seven grandchildren. He said, “I am McCain, seven times blessed.” It was a haven that the Lord used to create beauty from ashes. He enjoyed his time there hunting, fishing and playing golf.

He was reunited with his dad, grandparents, brother-in-law, and father-in-law.

Survivors: His soul mate, Kathy McCain, sweethearts since junior high and married for 43 years; three children and spouses, Brandon and Angie McCain, Ryan and Tobi McCain, Amber and Josh Brown; seven grandchildren, Colby Brown, Austin McCain, Kaylee McCain, Carsyn Brown, Luke McCain, Kaelyn McCain, and Brooklynn McCain; his mother, Peggy McCain; two sisters, Sheri Carter, Tia and Richard White; his brother-in-law and wife, Richard and Susie Ferguson; mother-in-law, Doris Ferguson Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.
