Ted Ratcliffe passed away from this life into a new life eternally on March 30, 2021. Ted was born in Loving, Texas, June 10, 1940, to Ray and Gladys (Laquey) Ratcliffe. Ted was a loving husband, devoted father, and exceptional grandfather and uncle. Ted spent most of his boyhood in Graham, Texas, where he graduated from the high school. Ted accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at the age of 9 at Oak Street Baptist Church in Graham. In high school he was a gifted football player which gained him a full-ride scholarship to Texas Tech. While at Tech, he met his “little girl,” Carolyn Abel. They were married on April 3, 1959 resulting in 62 years of marriage.

Ted’s life work was real estate, home building, and ranching. His work for the Kingdom of God included teaching Sunday school, serving as a deacon at Highland, and working at his beloved Baby Closet.

Ted is survived by his wife, sons Andrew, Matthew (Terri), and Timothy; his grandchildren, Ashley, Chandlor (Hailee), Benjamin, and Donathan (Emily), his nephew Lucas (Amberlee), brother, Wayne (Dorothy), and sister-in-law, Susan (Hoyt).

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Amanda, twin grandsons, Derrick and Dillan, sisters Helen and Martha, and brothers, Jim and Richard.

Services will be held April 10 at 10 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church, 4215 34th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79410. Visitation with the family will follow in the Connection Center, face coverings requested.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be made to the Baby Closet at Highland.
