Thomas E. “Tom” Swiney Sr., 80, of  Burkburnett passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016.


Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Lighthouse Church in Burkburnett with Brother Bobby Scott officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.


Tom was born on Jan. 7, 1936, in Kennedale, Texas, to the late Clarence Albert and Lavada (Moore) Swiney. Tom served in the National Guard, and became a member of the PGA. He was a member for over 60 years, serving as a professional in Wichita Falls, Altus, Graham, and most recently River Creek Golf Course in Burkburnett.  The family would like to thank the staff of United Regional Health Care Systems and Hospice of Wichita Falls for the love and care given to the family.


He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Kenneth Swiney; and sisters, Doris Jean Reed and Nelda Sue Mullins Kurtenbach.


He is survived by son Thomas E. “Rusty” Swiney Jr., of Burkburnett; sister Linda Treadway of Cashion; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and great-nephews.


The family received friends from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 05, 2016, at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
