Violet Lou (Lynn) Bass Bennis

Violet Lou (Lynn) Bass Bennis, 79, of Graham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020 at her home in Graham. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday Jan. 19, at First Presbyterian Church in Graham with Charlie Bazan officiating. McMillan-Satterwhite Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lynn was born in Pampa to William J. Bass and Minola Pearl Bass on Aug. 30, 1940. She spent most of her childhood in Amarillo, except for the two years she lived in Hollywood, Calif. and went to Hollywood High School. She married Benjamin Bennis on Oct. 12, 1956 in Amarillo. She lived in Amarillo, Rushton, England, Scobey Mont., and Hurst, before settling in Graham in 1969.

Lynn was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and was involved in many community organizations. She was an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan and loved following the Graham Steers and Lady Blues on the local radio. She will always be remembered as “Ma” by family and friends of many generations.
Lynn is preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Bennis Larmour, her parents, her sister, Vi Morrison and her brother, Howard Bass.

She is survived by; her daughter, Marla Morgan and husband, Kirk of Graham; two sons, William Bennis and wife, Linda of Granbury; Peter Bennis and wife, Carolyn of Fort Worth; her brothers, Bill Bass of Graham, Marvin Bass and wife, Sondra of Amarillo, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, Graham: Family Ministries, 1400 Randy Dr. Graham, TX 76450 or Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1655, Graham, TX 76450.
