Walter Henry Byerly

Walter Henry Byerly, 87, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home. Services were Friday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Walter was born in Brown County on the family farm Nov. 13, 1931 to the late Iva McClanahan and Lee Byerly. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Jane Akers, in Graham, on Dec. 23, 1950 at First Baptist Church. He was a long time member of FBC where he faithfully served as Sunday School teacher and wherever he was needed. He was a hard working man and always provided for his family. He enjoyed horseback riding, working with cattle, snow skiing with his family and vacations in the mountains.

He is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Mary Jane Byerly, of Graham; two daughters, Sylvia, of Ft. Collins, Colo. and Jan Crow, of Graham; one son Scott, of Graham; six grandchildren, Beraiah Byerly, of Anchorage, Ala., Chance and Shara Crow, of Cuero, Joshua and Sarah Crow, of Georgetown, MacKenzie Crow, of Stephenville, Misty Seals, of Fayetteville, Ark., Sloan Byerly, of Austin, Sam Byerly, of Graham. He also had four great grandchildren, Maverick, Marston, Marshal and Samuel Crow.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Iva McClanahan Byerly, his father Lee Byerly, his brother Jack Byerly and an aunt who raised him Hettie McClanahan.
