Winona Jeanette Alton

Winona Jeanette Alton was born on June 22, 1932, in Graham, Texas, to Eddleman Arch Spivey and  Edna Irene Swetman Spivey. She was married to Douglas Glenn Pendergras from 1952-1966. 

Winona then moved  to Alamogordo, New Mexico, and married  Harold Wayne Alton in November 1967.    Where she has resided until present. Winona had been a member of First Baptist Church in Graham, Texas, from 1955 until 1966. 

When she moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico, she became a member of The First Baptist Church where she was a member until her death. She was a very  dedicated Christian.  Winona enjoyed playing Scrabble with her friends and working word puzzles.  

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Alton; father, and mother. 

She is survived by: her sister, Rosa Nell Johnson of Vernon, Texas; her three children, Sharon Morgan and her husband Ted Morgan, of Austin, Texas, Kirk Pendergras of El Paso, Texas, Hal Alton and his wife, Debbie Alton, of Alamogordo, New Mexico. Winona had six grandchildren: Jennifer Meurer and her husband Scott; Michael Morgan and his wife Kelly; Alicia Alton, Alex Alton, Michael Curtis and Jennifer Greene. She has also left behind six great-grandchildren: Reagen,  Jase, Brody, Trenton, John and Carson.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hamilton O’Dell Funeral Home and the funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. also at Hamilton Funeral Home. 

The Alton family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Hamilton-O’Dell Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
