2018 Steers offense needs time to find new identity

There’s no question Graham ranks among the best programs in Texas high school football.

In the last 10 years, the Steers have made the semifinals in half of those seasons. After losing a total of 27 players off last year’s 14-1 state semifinal team to graduation, there will be a few question marks on offense to this new-look team.

“The 2009 team and the 2012-2014, 2017 teams we have had really set the bar for this program,” said Steers head coach Kenny Davidson. “They have shown that Graham can get to the playoffs and make a run from there.”

The Steers will transition to a new quarterback and welcome in a new offensive coordinator. Sophomore quarterback Hunter Lanham will get the chance to display his talents under coordinator Logan Turner.

Turner is no stranger to play calling. After a stint at Class 2A Bells, Turner spent last season as the coordinator at Class 3A Clyde. He spent time as a quarterback in college at SMU and Hardin Simmons University.

Logan’s brother, Landry played for Davidson back in 2014 and 2015.

While Turner will be a new coach to the staff, he said that there will not be much change in the offense from former coordinator Casey Dacus.
