The first week of June will be one for the books for Graham and Newcastle athletes. Several stars from this academic year will be competing in the Big Country FCA All-Star Festival.

Athletes from both school districts who will be attending were announced back in February of this year, but now is the time for them to step onto the fields and courts, some potentially for the last time, representing their high school communities.

Reunited on the Blue Football team will be Harison Brockway, Jordan Dunson, Mason Milton and Ty Thompson of the Graham Steers. Also from the Steers will be Mateo Rodriguez on the Red Football team who will be joined by Lucas Owen of the Newcastle Bobcats.

The Red Volleyball team will have Braylee Mayes representing the Graham Lady Blues. Ryder Taylor will be representing the Graham Steers on the Red Baseball team and Zoey Harrell will be representing the Graham Lady Blues on the Blue Softball team.

The sole Young County representative on the Blue Girls Basketball team will be Mattie Dollar of the Newcastle Ladycats.

It should also be noted that while these athletes competed with each other for much of their athletic and academic careers, some cases they will be competing on different teams.

The volleyball game will be played at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 5 at Abilene Christian University’s Moody Coliseum in Abilene. The softball and baseball games will be held at 6:30 p.m. June 5 at Brownwood High School in Brownwood.

The women’s basketball game will be held at 5 p.m. at ACU’s Moody Coliseum in Abilene. The football game will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7 at Shotwell Stadium in Abilene.
