Graham Steers’ starting pitcher and third baseman Corey Ballew was named district MVP and leads a list of 11 Steers players to earn all-district honors. Ballew’s honor is in addition to previous announcements to the Big Country FCA 2021 All-Star baseball game and the THSBCA All-Star game.

On the pitcher’s mound, Ballew started six games and pitched 34 innings while earning five wins. He also struck out 41 batters. On the entire season, Ballew started 13 games and pitched 72 innings with an earned run average of .972.

“Corey did an outstanding job for us in the field, at the plate and on the mound. He stepped up and gave us a solid outing on the mound every time he pitched,” Steers head coach Jim Bob Williams said. “We knew that other teams would try to pitch carefully to him, and he did a great job of being patient at the plate and taking walks (or hit by pitches,14 of them, and getting on base and trusting his teammates to drive the runs in. It is nice to see his hard work over the last four years pay off with his selection to both the FCA All-Star game and the THSBCA All-Star game. Both of those selections also reflect well on his teammates, because without them we would not have been as successful this year as a team, and that all plays a part in a player getting selected to play in All-Star games.”
