After a nail-biting 27-25 win in the first set, the Lady Blues volleyball team finished strong against Vernon with wins of 25-10 and 25-18 in the second and third sets to get the victory Friday night in Vernon. “We came out and we weren’t playing terrible, but little things weren’t going our way,” Blues head coach Marci Faulk said. “That’s why the first game was so close.” A tighter passing game in Games 2 and 3 led to better sets and harder hits for the Blues, pushing the Lady Lions out of the contest. Junior libero Nicole King continued her outstanding district play with 22 digs. King has eclipsed the 20-dig mark in her last three games and impressed her coach in the process. “She’s in the right spot a lot of the time,” Faulk said. “She reads the set really well and gets into position.” Jasmine Sims finished the game with team highs in kills and assists. Sims’ 14 kills and 18 assists were accompanied by three blocks and six digs. Emily Davis had six kills, 11 digs and two aces. Davis’ serving ability has led to nine aces in the last four games and proven to be a valuable weapon for the Blues.
