The Newcastle Bobcats had a bye week this week but that doesn’t mean their grind stops. The team will be gearing up for their final game of the regular season this week against the Bryson Cowboys.
The team’s last matchup was against the Northside Indians Friday, Oct. 24. London Martinez and Rylan Hinojosa led the way in the passing game with 45 total passing yards between the two of them and three passing touchdowns.
Martinez also had 125 yards rushing on the night and Mikey Soito had three rushing touchdowns to add to the team’s dominant run game.
Keyton Newland, Jayden Hemby and Leighton Gowens each had a receiving touchdown in that game as well.
The team’s final game of the season will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7. on the road in Bryson. The Bobcats currently sit with a 6-2 record and have a 3-0 record in district play.
The Cowboys currently sit with a 5-4 record in the district and have a 1-2 record in district play.
Newcastle sits at the top of the district while Bryson currently resides in fourth place. Coincidentally, this matchup was the final game of the last regular season as well for these teams.
In that matchup, the Bobcats won convincingly over the Cowboys 54-6. The Bobcats’ offense, especially in the ground game, have been starting to find their groove down the last stretch of the season.
The Bobcats will need to be at the top of their game in order to try to pick up another dominant victory against Bryson as they had last season.
The Bobcats will also be looking to stay at the top of the district and remain in a strong position as they head into the postseason. After that, Newcastle will be looking to go on a deep postseason run.
