The Newcastle Bobcats remain at the top of district with an undefeated record after their latest victory against the Northside Indians.

The game was held Thursday, Oct. 23 instead of their originally scheduled date Friday, Oct. 24 due to weather concerns.

It was a complete team victory for the Bobcats as they won by a final score of 46-8. This was only the fourth time this season that Newcastle surrendered points to an opponent.

Regardless, the team made plays to minimize the damage from the Northside offense while also continuing to pour points onto the Indians.

The team tried a balanced attack in both the run and the pass game and were successful overall to improve their record to 6-2 while also moving to 3-0 in the district.

After this matchup, the Bobcats move into their bye week and then take on the Bryson Cowboys in their final matchup of the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, on the road.

Currently, the Bobcats sit in first place in the district but other teams behind them, like Bryson, will look to make ground while Newcastle is on its bye week.

It will be pivotal for the Bobcats to replenish themselves with extra rest while not falling into complacency or losing their position in the district.

The Bobcats last faced the Cowboys in November 2024. In that game, the team was dominant, blowing out the Cowboys 54-6.

With the full support of their community, Newcastle will try to repeat history while keeping their foot on the gas as they head into the postseason.
