Bryson Cowboys basketball earns first victory of 2016-17 season

PERRIN - This past weekend at the Pirate Classic turned out to be filled with good for the Bryson Cowboys basketball team, as they claimed their first victory. However, it could have turned out to be a great weekend had it not been for a couple of minor setbacks. Bryson was scheduled to take on Slidell Tuesday night on the road and will be playing again on Dec. 9 against the Perrin-Whitt Pirates on the road. Bethesda Christian 49 Bryson 48 For three plus quarters last Thursday, it looked as though the Cowboys were going to earn their first victory of the season. Unfortunately, poor shooting down the stretch led to an offensive collapse and a heartbreaking defeat against Bethesda Christian. Bryson managed to take its first lead of the game at 12-10 with 48 seconds left in the first quarter, eventually leading 14-10 going into the second. Despite trailing for a couple minutes before halftime, Bryson managed to retake the lead at 27-24 entering the third. It looked as though the Cowboys were in control entering the fourth, as they led 40-34. For the rest of this story, subscribe to our print or online edition.
