PERRIN – Bryson was under the impression it was playing its district opener Tuesday night vs. the Pirates here. Because of a scheduling mistake, the match between the two Jack County foes was played as a non-district affair instead with the visiting Cowgirls posting a 25-12, 25-21, 25-10 victory. District will now commence for both schools Saturday with Bryson traveling to Graford and Perrin playing at Chico. Bryson Mentor Chelsea Kincaid said her squad has improved over the last month. “Due to some change in rotations, we have been getting much better,” Kincaid said. “We need to work on our footwork some more.” Senior libero Breanna Denton said it’s a fun group that is beginning to gel and work together. “We’re trying to talk more and really improve our communication on the floor to help us become more of a team.”The Cowgirls jumped out quickly in game one getting a Maddee Moore deuce and senior Breanna Denton’s five point string to take a 12-4 lead. Perrin had problems with being out of position throhgout the game and being unable to serve points with Jetton Cansler strining two together the only Lady Pirate to do so in the game. Bryson’s frontcourt trio of Moore, Maryum Keyser and Sydney Davidson used kills and blocks to help Nikki Goodman and Kyla Moore string together points and enable the visitors to pull away. Perrin came back and gave Bryson all they wanted in game two after Kaleigh Pippin’s pair put Bryson up 3-1 early. A four-point Ashton Sims string put the Pirates up 6-3.
