Bryson, Graham and Newcastle athletes earn football district honors

With all teams eliminated in their respective districts from the playoffs, all-district honor announcements are coming out. There was no shortage of athletes included from Bryson, Graham and Newcastle The Cowboys were represented by nine players and the Bobcats were represented by six players in 9-1AI. The Steers had 20 players named for all-district honors in 3-4AII.


Bryson Cowboys: Justin Justin, junior (first team tight end, first team defensive lineman); Chris Harris, senior (first team linebacker), Tyce Reeves, junior (first team corner back, academic); Ragen Register, junior (second team tight end, second team defensive lineman); Drake Huffman, junior (second team wide receiver); Grayson Allen, junior (second team spread center); TJ Imotichey, junior (second team full back); Landon Stephens, junior (second team spread back); Taylor Tyson, senior (special teams); Marcus Espinoza, junior (second team safety); Josh Leatherwood, senior (second team utility player); Zander Tinney, junior (honorable mention).


Graham Steers: Daniel Gilbertson, junior (offensive most valuable player); Bryce Hernandez, senior (offensive line co-most valuable player); Jesus “Gordo” Renteria, senior (defensive line most valuable player); J.J. Lee, junior (co-utility player of the year). First team all-district: Mathrew Linquist, Corey Ballew, Zach Martin, Hunter Lanham, Raider Horn, Greg Simenal, Landon Hebert, Lars Hanssen(offensive line). Second team all-district: Trey Overcast, Salvador Mendez, Ethan Hughes, Nick Helm, Lars Hanssen (defensive end), Brant Coley, Armando Anaya. Honorable mention: Brody Rogers.


Newcastle Bobcats: JD Brice, senior (offensive most valuable player); Lane Brice, senior (first team wide receiver, first team safety); Cash Strawbridge, sophomore (first team spread center); JT Spurlin, senior (first team running back, second team linebacker); Ryan Blair, sophomore (second team kicker); Jacob McMillan, senior (second team corner back).
