As the year in Graham starts to come to a close, it’s easy to look back on community accomplishments, especially in the world of athletics.

However, while athletes are often celebrated for their achievements on and off the court, it’s also important to recognize those that lead them.

On Monday, Dec. 15,  Lady Blues volleyball head coach Marci Faulk walked into her office to the sight of a large golden trophy which recognized her for reaching 500 career wins as head coach for both the Lady Blues and also formerly of the Bryson Cowgirls.

Faulk reached this milestone in August during the championship match of a tournament in Llano against the Burkburnett Lady Bulldogs which the Lady Blues won in two sets, according to an anonymous letter sent to The Graham Leader in regards to the accomplishment.

“The players from her Bryson and Graham Volleyball teams from 2007-2025 wish to congratulate their coach and their mentor, coach Marci Faulk with this gold ball of her own,” the letter said. “Congratulations coach Faulk on 500 career victories, wishing you many more in the future.”

For Faulk however, she said that while she was aware of the milestone when she reached it, she is a coach for another reason.

She said her journey has been about building up young women both on and off the court to be successful.

“Between the hard work and the desire to be successful at both schools, the kids were great representations not just of me but the school districts and communities,” Faulk said.

Faulk also recognized that the system she has instilled for both Graham and Bryson was not just from her.She expressed gratitude to her staff members and assistant coaches who help put students in positions to succeed.

On top of all of that, she also expressed gratitude to husband, Jay Faulk, and her son.

“This accomplishment wouldn’t be possible without the support from my son and husband,” Faulk said. “Through the years, they have supported and encouraged me every season.”
