It may not have been pretty but the Lady Blues got back to their winning ways against Brownwood Friday night. Graham beat Brownwood 25-20; 25-18; 25-18 in a sweep that left much to be desired, according to coach Marci Faulk. “I didn’t think we started strong,” she said. “We looked sluggish early and we couldn’t get out of that entirely. We looked good for a couple of plays and then we would go back to being sloppy. That’s something we need to correct before district.” The game would have been even more lopsided had the Blues come out and played the way they did against teams during the Lu Allen Tournament and Faulk is using that as an example. “The difference in those powerhouse teams is they’re consistent day-in, and day-out,” she said. “We need to just break over that hump of coming out and playing our game every night. You don’t want to do just enough to get by.” That is the lesson as Graham prepares for a Friday home game against Bridgeport. “I don’t know a whole lot about them right now,” Faulk said of Bridgeport. “I’m doing some research on them as we speak. I know they’re in a tough district.” Regardless of the talent level Bridgeport brings, Faulk expects to see her team play their best and dictate the game.
