Football All-District teams announced

Steers sophomore Rylan Monsey and junior Steven Brown lead a list of 21 Steers earning all-district football honors this week. Following Hirschi’s loss on Friday, November 25 to Glen Rose in the first regional playoff game, all four District 3-4A Division II playoff teams were eliminated.

In the announcement of the all-district honors, Monsey was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year and Brown was named Co-Defensive Line MVP. Eight Steers were named First Team, seven were named Second Team and four earned Honorable Mentions.

In four district games, Monsey ran for 344 yards and one touchdown. He added 19 catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns. During the Steers’ Oct. 21 39-8 win over Sweetwater, Monsey had 22 carries for 159 yards. Brown had 18 tackles, including four tackles for loss during games against Hirschi, Snyder, Sweetwater and Midland Greenwood.

First Team

Ty Thompson earned First Team All-District honors for his play at quarterback. He was joined by Brayden Riggins (receiver), Ty Carter (receiver), Peyton Kinman (receiver) and Aaron McBride (offensive line) on the First Team Offense. Defensively, Zathin Reyes (defensive back), Porter Johntson (defensive back) and Mason Milton (linebacker) in earning First Team All-District honors.

Second Team

Talan Yowell (offensive line), Harrison Brockway (receiver), Owen Allen (offensive line), Karson Kinney (defensive line), Jayton Hearne (linebacker), Hayden Horn (linebacker) and Bowen Boesnisch (linebacker) all earned Second Team All-District honors.
