There was only one thing on the minds of area cross country runners this weekend: Punching their ticket to the state competition at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The Graham boys and girls cross country runners tackled the course at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock at the Class 4A Region I meet. After the dust cleared, it was Graham Lady Blues runner Khloe Morris who earned her way to the state meet with a 12th place finish, clocking in with a time of 13:01.63. Morris will run on Nov. 12 in the Class 4A girls meet at approximately 8:30 a.m. Other finishers for the Lady Blues included Maria Hernandez at 14:15.98, Priscilla Herrera at 14:37.68, Alijandra Fuentes at 14:41.67, Kendra Williams at 14:41.82, Deborah Hunter finishing in 15:05.97 and Bailey East at 15:57.02. The Lady Blues placed 17th overall as a team on the day. As for the Steers runners, there were no state qualifiers this season, but all of the participants finished the race with solid times.
