GHS tennis players earn All-District Honors
With their season ending in a first-round loss in the playoffs last week, the Graham tennis team will have a few months to prepare for the individual tennis season in the spring.
But with the end of the season comes some end-of-season recognition for the players. The Steers and Lady Blues performed well both on and off the court this season and many players earned All-District Honors.
For the Lady Blues, four individuals earned All-District Honors: two for singles play and the other two as a doubles pair. Jade Dospapas earned 1st Team All-District Line 1 while Heather Wright earned 2nd Team All-District Line 5. The doubles partnership was for Reanna Brock and Lainey Herring as 2nd Team All-District Line 3.
The Steers had a couple strong representatives in the district, both on the 2nd team. Barron Burrows earned 2nd Team All-District Line 5 while Silas Yoder won 2nd Team All-District Line 6 and was the Boys Newcomer of the Year in the district.
In addition to the All-District Honors that were primarily for their play on the court, the Steers and Lady Blues had a handful of representatives who were named Academic All-District for their skills on the court as well as in the classroom.
Lady Blues named Academic All-District include Reagan Birdwell, Olivia Buckley, Wright, Dospapas, Stacey Gonzalez and Herring.
The Steers representatives are Barron and Hayden Burrows, Hudson Crawford, Scott Grimes, Jaydon Noyola, Luke Qualls and Yoder.
