Graham athletes medal at Battle of the Back 40

The Graham Steers and Lady Blues competed in the Battle of the Back 40 Invitational in Poolville this past week. The teams and individual runners once again had strong performances across the board. 

The Steers and Lady Blues competed against teams like Bridgeport HS, Peaster, Graford, Huckabay, Hico, Weatherford Christian School, Era and Poolville. 

The Steers finished in fourth out of seven spots in the 5K run while the Lady Blues finished sixth in the 3.2K run. 

The top runner from either team was Taylan Locker of the Lady Blues who had a top 15 finish in the girls 3.2K run. 

Other top performers on the girls side were Maddison Bishop and Angela Fuentes who both finished inside the top 30 in the same event. 

On the boys side, Nolan Wankowicz finished 20 in the boys 5K run finishing in just over 20 minutes. Dayne Dunnam and Hudson Weatherman were right behind him at spots 25 and 28. 

After competing in this meet, the Steers and Lady Blues teams will pick things up Wednesday, Sept. 24, for the Dublin Dash invite.
