Graham cross country headed to regionals

The Graham varsity boys and girls cross country teams are headed to regionals after having another successful meet on Thursday. The Steers coached by Marcus Morris earned second-place behind Burkburnett. Captain Sam Perkins led the way with a fourth-place finish and a time of 16:27.69. Lawson Wenninger and Hugo Murillo rounded out the top 10 in the varsity division. Evan Ranger, Marcos Herrera, Anthony Carillo and Greg Simental also crossed the finish line to help the varsity. 

The Lady Blues coached by Ky Graham also impressed. As a team, the Lady Blues took second, just three points behind Vernon. Khloe Morris was the first Graham runner to finish for the second straight meet. Morris' time of 14:08.94 earned her sixth-place with Debi Hunter coming in seventh with a time of 14:19.74. Evie Griffin checked in 10th-place. Michelle Delong, Maria Hernendez, Edith Branch and Kendra Williams also finished in the race. 

The Lady Blues' JV team was crownded district champions. Marlene Cervantes, Alejandra Barrios, Vivian Vizcaino, Olivia Isom, Arianna Castle, Ashley Pocasangre, Aracely Martinez, Jocelyn Palacios, Bailey East and Baylee Marshall competed. German Rangel's fourth-place showing led the Steers' junior varsity team to a second-place finish. Cesar Rincon, Dario Rendon, Jack Graham, Marc Tate and Bryce Bozeman all ran on the JV team.

The Class 4A-Region I meet is set for Monday, Oct. 22 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
