Graham Cross County runs in Region I meet
The Graham High School cross country season came to a close Tuesday at the 4A Region I meet. Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock played host for Region I over a two-day period with 4A taking place at 11 a.m. for girls and 11:30 a.m. for boys.
Madi Wilde and Kylee Miller represented the Lady Blues in the meet. The Lady Blues failed to qualify as a team and the pair advanced as individual runners. Wilde, a freshman, finished the two-mile race in 14:12.40. She finished 51 overall. Miller, a sophomore, finished the course at 15:15.50 for an 86th place finish.
“I was really nervous at the start of the race,” Wilde said. “We all got kind of bunched up so I just kept praying. I’m happy with the time I finished and it was exciting to make it to the regional meet as a freshman. My shoe came untied during the race and that made it kind of difficult. I just kept running and praying.”
