Graham Junior High School took first place in both the boys and girls District 5-4A cross country meet at Kirby Middle School in Wichita Falls Oct. 17. The win is the school’s 10th championship in 12 season as a program.

In the girl’s race, Rebecca Heartfield was the top finisher for the Lady Blues. She finished third in a field of 36 runners. Macee Wilde, Olivia Pettus, Emerie Stogner, Lola Cook and Addison Agraz posted top 10 finished. Easton Hedge was the Steer’s top finisher in the boy’s race with a second place finish. Brazier Joy, Oziel Trejo, Peter Hunter and Jayton Hearne posted top 10 finishes.

“It has been a crazy season,” said coach Regina England. “UIL limited the number of schools at each meet and the number of runners from each school as junior high is usually unlimited runners. All my kids really worked hard and competed against each other to be in the top 10. We had kids cut time every meet. Some throughout the season have cut over three minutes off their times. All but three personal best at District and those three were only off by a few seconds. I am so very proud of each of them and their parents because great supportive parents make a big difference in each kid’s life.”
