The summer offseason has come and gone for Graham athletics and fall sports season is in full swing. Graham High School will kick off the start of the new season and year with their annual booster bash event.

The Graham Athletic Booster Club Facebook page announced the event in a post Sunday, Aug. 3. The page said that gates would be open at Newton Field for the event at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.

Athletes from all the fall sports teams as well as school clubs will be featured and presented for the community in Graham.

This is an event that head football coach and GHS Athletic Director Clay McChristian knows always draws a crowd.

“We’ve got bounce houses out here for the little kids, we’re going to have a donation booth for our peanut butter and jelly (meals), this year for the first time we're going to have a lot of tables set up with a lot of the clubs in the high school,” McChristian said. “(The community is) going to see the art club, the Spanish club, all the different activities. So this year we’re going to have a lot of tables out here so kids can figure out what they’re interested in and find their spot.”

McChristian also said that when it comes to the athletic side of things, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing student-athletes across all of Graham’s fall sports.

He said its rewarding to see students finding their place in activities and representing the community.

“It’s great, it’s why we do this,” McChristian said. “Thats why we’re all in this business is to see our kids find their niche and then be celebrated.”

McChristian went on to say that this event serves Graham both ways as both a platform for its students and student athletes to be represented, but also as a way to build a feeling of unity with the outside Graham community.

This event serves as a way to bring parents and fans out together to garner support for the teams and the school as the fall starts to roll in and create a feeling of buzz and excitement that will draw the community to future events.
