Athletes from Graham and Newcastle were selected for the Academic All-State and Fall Sports All-State teams from the Texas Girls Coaches Association in cross country and volleyball.
TGCA selects the Fall Sports All-State Teams in cross country and volleyball, with athletes being nominated by member coaches. Freshman through senior athletes can be nominated for the honor.
Each conference may select up to 50 athletes to honor decided by the sport’s All-State Committee, which is composed of TGCA member coaches selected by their peers for the committee position.
Graham High School senior Lillian Noble was selected for the Fall Sports All-State Team for 4A volleyball.
After sweeping their bi-district playoff game, the Lady Blues fell in the area playoffs to Decatur. Noble was a powerhouse for the team last season and was previously named District Offensive MVP and Second Team Academic All-State during the District 6-4A honors.
Newcastle High School senior Mattie Dollar and freshman Allison Melton were selected for the Fall Sports All-State Team for 1A cross country. Melton and Dollar were two of six Ladycats that ran in the state cross country meet at Round Rock and came away with the school’s top two times in the race of 13:22.40 and 13:22.40, respectively.
TCGA also selected its Academic All-State teams in all conferences in volleyball.
Athletes and support staff are nominated by member coaches, must be graduating seniors and have a grade point average of 94 or above.
A total of six Lady Blues volleyball players were selected for the 4A Academic All-State team. The players honored were Emilee Gordy, Georgia Martin, Braylee Mayes, Annemarie McHenry, Lillian Noble and Camden Thorne.
