The Graham Steers and Lady Blues had one mission going into Holliday for their final match of the regular season—win and secure a playoff spot to continue the season. That’s exactly what they accomplished with a victory over Holliday.

As always things started off with the doubles matches for both the boys and girls teams. The Lady Blues had strong performances all season and that continued in this matchup.

All three of the Lady Blues top teams earned points with wins on the day. Those teams were led by Jade Dospapas and Kline Krupp, Stacey Gonzales and Hope Jones and rounded out with Manjot Humpal and Lauren White.

Each of these teams won by scores of 8-3, 8-5 and 8-6 respectively.

The boys side of the doubles matches also earned a point on the day with a victory. That win came from the team of Keigan Garland and Brooklyn Tarsoaga by a score of 8-6. However, the team of Chris Reyes and Tyler Bryan also put up a fight in their loss by a final score of 8-4.

Singles competition is where the Steers dominated things on the day. Brodey Mills picked up his second consecutive win at the top of the leaderboard over his Holliday opponent by a score of 8-5.

Reyes, Bryan, Garland and Tarsoaga followed up behind Mills picking up their own singles victories on the day. Those victories came by final scores of 8-1, 8-5, 8-3 and 8-5 respectively.

Having eight total wins on the day in both the singles and doubles matches for Graham meant that the teams were putting themselves in solid position for a postseason appearance. Fortunately for Graham, the Lady Blues finished the job.

Dospapas once again dominated at the top of the leaderboard winning 8-3. Jones and Krupp filled in behind her with wins of their own by scores of 8-1 and 8-3.

Also, while it didn’t count towards the final score, Lauren White also won her singles match by a score of 6-2.

The Steers and Lady Blues continue into the playoffs with their first match on the road against Canyon High in Snyder on Monday, Oct. 6, at 11:30 a.m.
