The Graham Steers and Lady Blues varsity tennis teams traveled on the road for the first time this season and came back home with a win against Glen Rose. The team won 14-5 with a bevy of strong performances.

Tennis head coach Matt Birdwell said that the team got off to a little bit of a slower start in the doubles portion of things but overall they still had strong performances in that department.

The boys top team of Chris Reyes and Tyler Bryan picked up a tight match win 9-7, while all of the Lady Blues teams picked up wins in that department as well.

The teams were a bit mixed this time around but at the top was Stacey Gonzalez and Hope Jones who picked up an 8-3 match win. Under them was Lauren White and Manjot Humpal who followed suit in their doubles matchup with an 8-6 victory.

Just like Reyes and Bryan, the team of Kline Krupp and Gloria Silveria pulled out a narrow 9-7 victory.

In the singles slate of things, Brodey Mills highlighted the top of the leader board picking up an 8-3 to get the Steers up on a high note. Brooklyn Tarsoaga also beat his Glen Rose opponent by the same score and Chris Reyes picked up an 8-4 win for Graham.

The Lady Blues side of things really turned it up a notch in helping the team from Graham sealing a win.

Olivia Buckley, Gonzalez, Jones, Krupp, White and Humpal all picked up victories on the girls side of things which helped round out a win.

The mixed doubles team of Mills and Buckley also continues to find their rhythm as they picked up an 8-3 win as well.

Now sitting with a 5-4 record, the Graham tennis teams will head to Brownwood next for a meet Thursday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m.
