It wasn’t the typical tournament Tuesday when Iowa Park came to the Graham tennis courts. The 4 p.m. start was immediately pushed back 30 minutes by weather, and later a two-hour weather delay forced teams to finish the tournament playing only to 10 points. Ultimately, the results weren’t far from expected with the favorite, Iowa Park, taking the tournament, but Graham coach Matt Birdwell saw a lot of good signs from his players too. “We’re improving,” Birdwell said. “We’re young so the ceiling is high. It was good to play against Iowa Park. They’re likely the best team in our district and even though things were weird with the weather, it was still good for us to play them and have that opportunity.” Though Graham as a whole lost, Graham’s top mixed doubles team of Markus Montfort and Sabrina Adrianson won, as did the girls doubles team of Rachel Bartholomew and Sydney Widner. Next up for Graham is a tournament against Burkburnett at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8 in Graham. That will be followed by a Tuesday, Sept. 13 tournament in Mineral Wells.
