After losing a tight matchup against Krum two weeks ago, the Graham High School fall tennis team responded with a 11-8 win over Lake Worth last Saturday, Aug. 25.

Head coach Matt Birdwell saw several of his athletes record wins in the match while having their best matches of the young season.

“What stands out most from this match was the play of our girls,” Birdwell said. “The girls went 8-1 Saturday and have been competitive in almost every match we have played this year.”

Both of Graham’s top boy and girl singles players, Adri Arredondo and Marcos Gonzalez earned wins. Arredondo defeated her counterpart by an 8-5 score while Gonzalez defeated Zeus Villaneuva, 8-4.

In other girls singles action, Hailey Armstrong, Ashley Villalva, Nayleli Ramirez and Aimee McShan won their respective set over their Lake Worth opponent.

Each of the Lady Blues girls doubles teams picked up wins. The team of McShan and Arredondo overwhelmed their counterparts in a 8-0 victory.
