Graham tennis teams open 2017 spring season

Cold weather is never suitable when playing certain sports, especially tennis. But this was the hand dealt to the Steers and Lady Blues when they opened the spring 2017 season Jan. 12 against Burkburnett. Graham played its second dual of the season Jan. 19 against Iowa Park. The first tournament action of the campaign will come Feb. 3 when Graham will travel to Boswell. On Feb. 17, Graham will be hosting its own tournament. It was a successful opening day for the No. 1 mixed doubles team of Marcus Monfort and Sabrina Adrianson as they won their match against their counterparts from Burk 8-4, before defeating the No. 2 doubles team from Burk 6-2. Graham’s No. 2 doubles team of Nick Stevens and Sydney Widner weren’t as lucky that day, losing their contest with Burk’s No. 2 doubles squad 9-8 (4-7). They were also defeated by the BHS No. 1 doubles team 8-4.
