Graham track opens 2017 season

Graham’s track season got off to a solid start Saturday in Mineral Wells at the Ram Relays. The Lady Blues finished in fifth as a team with 69.50 points against a field including Chisholm Trail, Abilene Wylie and Everman. The Steers, meanwhile, claimed sixth overall as a team with 46 points.
In the girls varsity events, several Lady Blues turned in solid performances. Claire Jones claimed fourth overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.93, which was an improved finish from her 13.12 preliminary run. Summer Croxton also claimed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a finish of 27.20.
Graham had a pair of finishers in the 400-meter dash. Rosie Schaffer and Cassie Russell finished in fifth and sixth places, respectively, with times of 1:05.29 and 1:06.19.
Alicia Olvera and Deborah Hunter finished in 14th and 15th places respectively in the 800-meter relay, clocking in at 2:53.39 and 2:56.10. In the 1,600-meter run, Khloe Morris earned third overall with a time of 5:59.99, with teammate Lexie Fuentes earning ninth at 6:24.44. Deborah Hunter came in 13th overall with a time of 6:45.78.
