Graham volleyball hosts team camp

With the start of the 2018 high school volleyball season less than two weeks away, the Graham Lady Blues are preparing for the season by competing in the Abilene preseason tournament beginning this Friday. After taking second place last season at the same tournament, there is a lot of reason to see the team do well before the start of the actual season begins.

While the Graham coaching staff cannot be on the court to assist, there are many things that head coach Marci Faulk can take away from the few practices and the upcoming tournament.

“They teach a lot of fundamental work and team concepts that consist of both offensive and defensive drills,” Faulk said. “The reason I like the camp is that it preps them for the upcoming tournament and then for two-a-days. A lot of girls will come up to me after and say they are sore, and I tell them that it’s better to be sore now and keep working through that, as opposed to the first of August. To me, it just signifies that summer is over and we are moving to volleyball.”

This will be the ninth annual Abilene Youth Sports Authority High School Volleyball Showcase. Each team is guaranteed 24 sets or 12 matches during the two-day event.
