After helping the Graham Lady Blues reach the regional quarterfinals this season in volleyball, junior Jasmine Sims was on cloud nine. Due to her stellar season, Sims was also named as the District 9-4A Offensive Player of the Year. Something the junior standout wasn’t expecting though was an even bigger offseason award. It was recently announced that Sims was named as a Texas Girls Coaches Association All-Star for classes 1A-4A, and will participate in the TGCA Red-Blue All-Star game this July in Austin, as part of the 1A-4A blue squad. “I was very excited, and nearly started crying,” Sims said about her initial reaction to the award. “There were a lot of emotions going through me at the time. I’m just ready to make it happen and very happy.” When looking at Sims’ stats for her junior season, it’s clear to see the Lady Blues standout earned her place on the All-Star squad. For the year, Sims finished with 432 kills to go with 367 digs and 408 assists. Also included were 49 aces to go with 51 blocks. There was also the small matter of Sims registering 14 double-doubles and nine triple-doubles this season, as the Lady Blues finished with a 32-9 overall record.
