GSA host adult soccer finals

The adult men’s and women’s adult soccer finals were held at the GSA soccer fields on Saturday and Sunday. The attendance was strong, and the season finished with large performances from the best of the adult leagues.

The semi finals were held on Saturday. The final two teams for the men and the final two teams for the women squared off on Sunday in the adult soccer finals. 

Teams have been playing throughout the spring and the finals was the culmination of the season. There were eight male adult teams this year and five female teams. This year was the first year for the adult women’s league. With five teams participating in the first year, a strong display of support was shown for the leauge by the females athletes of Graham.

In the women’s league, Dale` captured the league title over Atletico Madrid. Members of team Dale` included Luthien McCurdy, Brandi Wilde, Kristen Walker, Amy Kramer, Latisha Jacoba, Olga Gonzalez (goalkeeper), Olga Edith Gonzalez, Abigail Gonzalez and Leslie Leasure.

The members of Atletico Madrid included Chabely Avila, Isa Sanchez, Denise Gonzalez, Alicia Olvera, Paola Lara (goalkeeper), Guadalupe Rincon, Ana Lucio, Lorena  Rivera and Valerie Rivera. 

The men’s finals was between Everton, a team from Breckenridge, and Juventus, a team from Graham. Everton captured the league title with a 2-0 victory over Juventus.

Members of Everton included Andres Salazar, Rafael Ruiz, Mitchell de la Cruz, Armando Salazar, David Alvarez, Angel Garcia , Horacio Medina, Francisco Salazar, Daniel Funes and Silvano Alvarez.

The members of Juventus are David Lopez, Noel Cervantes, Carmelo Colunga, Josefat Jimenez, Fredy Huerta, Eduardo Mundo, Francisco Garcia, Francisco Salas, Jose Ruben Rivera(goalkeeper), Geovany Ozuna, Antonio Gonzalez, Jose Ibarra, Billy Hernandez and Ruby Hernandez. 

The adult league will be back this fall for a fall season of soccer. The GSA hopes to also have a 5v5 tournament this summer.
