Horn’s shutout gives Steers 6-0 win

VERNON— The Graham High School Steers sit atop the Region 1 District 6 standings after junior pitcher Tucker Horn’s complete-game shutout of Vernon Tuesday night.
Horn’s nine strikeout performance lifted the Steers to their third district win with Graham’s bats coming alive late to secure a 6-0 win victory.
“I had a great defense behind me,” Horn said. “They did a great job backing me up. It was all the guys around me that did it for us.”
The Steers’ defense kept Vernon off of the scoreboard, but the Lions did not have the same luxury. A botched play at second base in the top of the second inning allowed senior Chance Hornsby to reach home, then another error on a botched attempt to stop a runner from stealing third allowed senior Jaxon Brockaway to reach home moments later.
