How the 2022 Steers’ non-district opponents fared in 2021: Iowa Park

Preparations for the 2022 football season officially open next month with two-a-days Monday, Aug. 1. Football teams across the state will have their first official practices of the season. The 2022 season will kick off Friday, Aug. 26 when the Steers host Bowie for the season opener. When Week 4 kicks off Friday, Sept. 16, the Steers will host former district rival Iowa Park.

To open the 2021 season, the Hawks had a non-district schedule of games against Holliday, Canadian, Burkburnett, Brock and Wichita Falls High School. Back-to-back losses marred a slow start to open the season.

Hawks’ head coach Michael Swenson’s debut in charge of Iowa Park came down to the closing minutes in a 20-14 home loss to Holliday.
