There will be several new faces in charge when the 3-4A DII football schedule opens on Oct. 8. All four district opponents have new head coaches entering the 2021 season. Before previewing the 2021 season, The Graham Leader is looking back on the 2020 seasons of the opponents the Steers will see in 2021. This year’s non-district schedule was covered in the June 23 edition of The Graham Leader.

Bridgeport - Oct. 8

The Bulls are one of three district opponents that had disappointing 2020 seasons. The young team could never find the momentum to string together any wins.

The Bulls’ lone win of the season came on Sept. 4 at Bowie with a 22-15 win. District Co-Defensive Sophomore of the Year Chris Pritchard (a two-way player at linebacker and running back) provided the spark with three touchdowns (rushing, receiving and interception return) as well as converting on a two-point conversion.

When the Steers and Bulls met on Oct. 9, the Steers were one big play away from a shutout victory, winning 63-7. Seven different Steers found the end zone, led by three touchdown passes from Hunter Lanham. Daniel Gilbertson led the rushing attack with 142 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Lindquist had 100 receiving yards. Both Corey Ballew and Landon Hebert had two sacks.
