The JV Lady Blues played their final match at home for the regular season this week against the Brock Lady Eagles. Unfortunately for the team, they were not able to get the job done, losing in two sets.

Set one was definitely more of a fight for the Lady Blues. The team started out trailing 8-4 but players like Kate Hufstedler kept the team in the fight at the service line, picking up a few points to make it 8-6.

Paizlee Evans also helped pull things to within three at 14-11, and McKynley Corley helped cut it to within two.

However, despite Graham’s best efforts offensively, Brock just kept pulling away on the scoresheet and eventually went on to win set one 25-17.

Things got even tougher in set two for the Lady Blues.

The team looked frustrated on the court as no matter what they tried, it seemed like they were just a step away from the ball’s reach as a 2-0 deficit quickly became 7-0 and 10-0.

The team eventually fell significantly behind, trailing 17-0 before finally picking up their first point, and despite picking up a few more off of players like Braylee Wenninger and Hudson Wright, the team ultimately lost their second set 25-3 to end the match.

“I expect them to play better on Friday,” coach Courtney Wright said. “They know they can play better than that.”

The team will look to rebound from this loss at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24 against Mineral Wells. The team has grown as a whole throughout the course of this season and coach Wright believes that the team can put in a solid amount of work in practice to finish the season strong.
