The JV Lady Blues played their final game of regular season action this past weekend on the road against the Mineral Wells Lady Rams.
While they weren’t able to pick up the victory, they put up a good fight and finished off a strong season of growth.
The match took place Friday, Oct. 24. The team showed promise and improvements this year.
Players like Madi LeFevre, Collins Weil, McKynley Corley, Paizlee Evans, Braylee Wenninger, Alexis Aguirre, Makenzie Vacante, Angel Turner, Hudson Wright, Kylie Pruitt, Landree Smith, Kate Hufstedler and Ruby Shaffer all showed moments of strength and efficiency this year and will lead the Lady Blues program into the future.
Several of these players will also be picking up valuable experience with the varsity team as they go on into the postseason, which coach Courtney Wright believes will be even more valuable experience as they progress into the future.
“A couple of our kids got pulled up so I think it will be a good experience for them,” Wright said. “I think three of these kids are going to travel with them in the playoffs so it will be a good experience for them to get used to what it’s like.”
When it came to their match against Mineral Wells, the team was looking for a bounce back effort after their loss Tuesday, Oct. 21, against the Brock Lady Eagles.
They got that for sure as Wright pointed to multiple facets of the game against the Lady Rams that were improved.
“I think they responded,” Wright said. “We passed much better than we did on Tuesday night. I thought we played more as a team.”
The team put up a bevy of kills and defensive plays in their opening set to win 25-15, but lost a close second set 25-22 and lost set three 25-14.
The season might be over, but the future looks bright for the Lady Blues volleyball program.
