The Graham Lady Blues hit the road last week for one last tournament of the non-district schedule when they competed at Lubbock Cooper Liberty High School.

Over the course of three days, the Lady Blues faced a string of competitive teams, earning a couple hard-fought wins while taking a few hard losses as well. Graham came away with a 2-3 record from the weekend and now sits at 10-10 on the season.

Listed below are scores and stats from each of the weekend’s contests with notes about each game.

Lady Blues v. Farwell, (L) 67-32

Graham started the tournament in a battle of Lady Blues. Farwell and Graham’s girls sports teams are both called the Lady Blues, and unfortunately, Farwell got the best of Graham in this one.

The opposing Lady Blues are one of the top-ranked teams in Class 2A and they showed it on the court with an offense that overbeared Graham’s defense. Farwell controlled the game just about the entire time, but Graham had some bright moments as well.

Fayth Bryer had a standout game as she recorded a double-double with a team-high 12 points and 11 rebounds. Rebecca McGregor and Briley Randall each had near identical stat lines of 6 points, five rebounds and two assists each while Katie McGehee pitched in 4 points and two assists.

Lady Blues v. Lamesa, (W) 43-33

Graham’s girls matched up next with a 3A team in the Lady Tornadoes and earned a solid win with another couple of huge performances.

While it was a close game for most of the contest, the Lady Blues had a solid game all around to earn the victory.

Randall went off in this game, going for a team-leading 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting. She had the team’s only 3-pointer and also went 3-of-5 at the free throw line while pulling down seven rebounds.

Bryer recorded her second double-double in a row as she finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The senior also was four blocks away from a triple-double as she ended with six in that category.

Lady Blues v. Portales, (L) 51-13

Following a couple of solid offensive games, the Lady Blues cooled off against a red-hot Portales team. The Lady Rams cruised to a victory over Graham in this one as the Lady Blues struggled in multiple aspects.

Ball security was a problem in this one as Graham turned the ball over 26 times while only recording three steals. It led to a lot of Portales transition baskets while the Lady Blues had difficulties getting any offense going.

Randall finished with 5 points and four rebounds, Bryer ended up with 4 points and six rebounds, McGehee added 2 points, two rebounds and two assists and Addyson Weaver hauled in a team-high seven rebounds.

Lady Blues v. Lubbock Cooper Liberty, (L) 59-30

In their fourth contest of the tournament, the Lady Blues put up a fight against a tough 4A school in the Lady Patriots but came away with another loss.

Turnovers continued to be a bit of a problem for Graham, but the team managed some more offense compared to their previous game against Portales. Randall had another strong offensive game as she led the team with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting and had three rebounds and two assists.

Weaver was second on the team with 9 points while shooting 3-of-5 from the field and 3-of-5 at the free throw line. The sophomore also collected four rebounds and an assist. Hallie Gough pitched in 4 points and a rebound.

Lady Blues v. Canutillo, (W) 30-24

After a tough weekend of competition, the Lady Blues ended things with a win over the Lady Eagles. The team got back in the game despite some shots not falling.

Randall and Weaver both finished with 8 points each to lead the team, and Randall added nine rebounds while Weaver had seven. Bryer ended the game with 7 points, seven rebounds and three assists while McGregor, Gough and Savannah Fricks each had 2 points.
